2024 Softball

Registration for Softball is now closed. Thank you for your interest in our program. Links to registration pages will not function correctly. For further information, please contact the softball coordinator at softball@hca-carp.ca.

The West Carleton Softball program is for ages 8-20 and consists of teams from Carp, Dunrobin, Kinburn, Fitzroy Harbour and Constance Bay. Older age groups may also participate against teams in other communities (McNab/Braeside and Stittsville).

The program runs from the first week in May to the end of June. Teams practice and play games twice per week.

Games run for about 1 ½ hours (less for the youngest age category) and start at 6:30pm. Games for the categories U15 & up may start at 8:30pm.

HCA also offers a Learn-to-Play program for children aged 5 to 7 (2017-2019 birth years). They practice once a week (usually on Mondays). No travelling to other community fields is required.

Every player is required to bring their own glove and helmet with a strap and cage. Jerseys will be provided by each association at no cost. Players must wear a mask (provided by the HCA) when pitching.

For more information please see: http://wcminorsoftball.ca/

** We are always looking for both Junior and Senior umpires (paid or volunteer hours). For more information please contact Carp’s softball coordinator at softball@hca-carp.ca.

Registration – Rowan’s Law

As first announced in 2022, a New Ontario law called Rowan’s Law has come into effect for sports organizations. This law outlines certain requirements of the organizers, participants, and parents of participants regarding the awareness of concussions, procedures to be taken if a concussion is suspected, and how to return a player to a sport following a suspected concussion. In the following registration process, you will be asked to confirm you have read our policy statement, and that you have reviewed at least one of the resources offered by the Province of Ontario regarding concussions.

The resources are offered in the form of booklets, videos, and an interactive learning guide. The booklets and videos are tailored to certain age groups. Concussions are serious brain injuries, so we ask all participants and parents to review the documentation referenced in the Rowan’s Law Agreement section.

Coaches and Team Trainers

Coaches and Team trainers do not “register” like a participant does, however they do have to certify that they have reviewed and agree with the requirements to comply with Rowan’s Law. If you are a coach or team trainer, please see the Rowan’s Law section on the West Carleton Minor Softball website at http://wcminorsoftball.ca/.

Player Registration

Player registration is a two-step process this year. First, players and parents must complete the requirements to comply with the new Rowan’s Law, then the actual player registration can be completed.

If you have already completed the Rowan’s Law Agreement section but did not continue the registration process, you can go directly to the 2024 Player Registration section.

Please Note that the Rowan’s Law requirements must be completed for all players before they will be permitted to participate.

Note:  The deadline for registering for the 2024 season is Wednesday April 3.
