The 2026 Softball Program for Fall of 2026 is a new offering being promoted by the Huntley Community Association. In response to some interest expressed by parents and coaches, it is being designed as an informal program for children to develop or continue their participation in softball during the Fall months, outside of our traditional participation with the West Carleton Softball program that is offered in the Spring months. It will be a non-competitive coed program that does not include formal games or umpires, but will be more focused on skill development and knowledge of the sport.
The program will be run during the months of September and October, beginning the week of Aug. 31 – Sept. 6, with a break in the last 2 weeks of September for Carp Fair activities and cleanup.
Success of this program will depend on volunteers to act as coaches with various skill and experience levels, so parents are being encouraged to consider their participation in the program.
There will be no charge to register as jerseys will not be ordered and no umps will be used. The teams will be split the same way as usual (LTP, U9, U11 & U13) but different groupings may be formed depending on the numbers and how many parents offer to help coach. Kids in Carp who did not play in the spring are welcomed to sign up so spread the word. There may be some registration restrictions for kids outside of Carp depending on the numbers.
Tentatively Learn-to-Play will be on Mondays, U9s on Tuesdays, U11s on Wednesdays from 6:30 – 8:00 and U13s on Thursdays if we have enough players or they may be combined with the U11s.
Every player is required to bring their own glove and helmet with a strap and cage. Players must wear a mask (provided by the HCA) when pitching.
Registration – Rowan’s Law
This law outlines certain requirements of the organizers, participants, and parents of participants regarding the awareness of concussions, procedures to be taken if a concussion is suspected, and how to return a player to a sport following a suspected concussion. In the following registration process, you will be asked to confirm you have read our policy statement, and that you have reviewed at least one of the resources offered by the Province of Ontario regarding concussions.
Coaches and Team Trainers
- Parents who volunteer to coach in Carp for the first time will be required to complete a police record check. The HCA will provide a signed letter for each coach to submit to the Ottawa police online so that no fee is charged. This is a league-wide policy.
Player Registration
Player registration is a two-step process.
- Complete the requirements to comply with Rowan’s Law
- Complete a Player Registration form (for each player to be registered)
