The Mess Hall is a city facility managed by the Huntley Community Association. The HCA are all volunteers who take pride in our community and facilities. When using the Mess Hall for your special event, please respect it as you would your own home.
The Huntley Community “Mess Hall” is located at 2240 Craig’s Side Road, just outside the lovely village of Carp. Not far from the Diefenbunker, it overlooks the Ottawa Valley, including the Carp River.
The Mess Hall is perfect for events such as birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, baby or wedding showers, Christmas parties, and other such activities. Meetings, workshops, and courses are also held regularly at the Mess Hall because of the bright, warm atmosphere that lends itself to a facility this size.

Alcohol Policy
The Bar is operated by the HCA in accordance with the regulations of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and the City of Ottawa. All staff who are involved with the sale of alcohol including security staff are certified by the Smart Serve program. The objective is to ensure that patrons enjoy themselves and are protected.
No alcohol is permitted on the premises if the Bar has not been included in the rental agreement. This is in accordance with the AGCO as well as the City of Ottawa By-Laws. If the bar has been included in the rental, the limits of the licensed areas are defined and clearly marked with signage. No alcohol is permitted beyond the interior of the building or beyond the deck at the rear of the building.
Rental Rates
Rental rates can be quite variable, and are impacted by a number of factors:
- Purpose of rental
- Whether the event is private, commercial, or a not-for-profit community event
- Number of expected attendees
- Timeline of rental, including number of hours and/or number of days
- Whether or not a bar is required
A Refundable Damage Deposit of $300 will be required for most rentals. This requirement is to protect the Association against unreasonable damage to the facility, or non-compliance with terms of the rental agreement during the rental event.
The City of Ottawa and/or the Huntley Community Association may require that liability insurance be in force for renters. Rates will vary depending on the type of event and the expected attendance. If liability insurance coverage is optional, the renter may decline the standard coverage offered through the City Of Ottawa by signing a waiver of insurance form that will be provided.
When booking your rental, you will be agreeing to the Mess Hall Rental Agreement. This document must be reviewed carefully by the renter to ensure all terms are fully understood. View the Mess Hall Rental Agreement here.
