2023 Softball

Softball registration for the 2023 season has now closed. Links to registration pages will not complete successfully. For further information please contact the Softball convener at “softball@hca-carp.ca” directly. Thank you for your interest in this season’s program.

The West Carleton Softball program is for ages 8-19 and consists of teams from Carp, Dunrobin, Kinburn, Fitzroy Harbour and Constance Bay.

The program runs from the first week in May, for approximately 8 weeks, with the last games played prior to the end of June. Generally teams play one game and one practice per week.

Games for the 8-13 age group, categories U9,U11,U13 start at 6:30pm and run for about 1 ½ hours (less for the younger age groups).
Games for the categories U15 & up groups usually start at 8:30pm.

Please note – in the case of lower registration numbers some of our older teams (ages 14 & up) may play in the Stittsville league in order to field enough teams.

HCA also offers a Learn-to-Play program for children aged 5 to 7 (2016-2018 birth years), they practice once a week (on a non-soccer evening – usually Mondays) for about 8 weeks. No travelling to other community fields.

Every player is required to bring their own glove and helmet with strap (a cage is recommended on the helmet for ages 8 and up).

For more information please see: http://wcminorsoftball.ca/

** We are always looking for both Junior and Senior umpires (paid or volunteer hours) to help keep the game running smoothly. For more information regarding umpiring (courses available, experience required and what we pay) please see http://wcminorsoftball.ca/.

Registration – Rowan’s Law

As first announced in 2022, a New Ontario law called Rowan’s Law has come into effect for sports organizations. This law outlines certain requirements of the organizers, participants, and parents of participants regarding the awareness of concussions, procedures to be taken if a concussion is suspected, and how to return a player to a sport following a suspected concussion. In the following registration process, you will be asked to confirm you have read our policy statement, and that you have reviewed at least one of the resources offered by the Province of Ontario regarding concussions.

The resources are offered in the form of booklets, videos, and an interactive learning guide. The booklets and videos are tailored to certain age groups. Concussions are serious brain injuries, so we ask all participants and parents to review the doc

Coaches and Team Trainers

Coaches and Team trainers do not “register” like a participant does, however they do have to certify that they have reviewed and agree with the requirements to comply with Rowan’s Law. If you are a coach or team trainer, please see the Rowan’s Law section on the West Carleton Minor Softball website at http://wcminorsoftball.ca/.

Player Registration

Player registration is a two-step process this year. First, players and parents must complete the requirements to comply with the new Rowan’s Law, then the actual player registration can be completed.

If you have already completed the Rowan’s Law Agreement section but did not continue the registration process, you can go directly to the 2023 Player Registration section.

Please Note that the Rowan’s Law requirements must be completed for all players before they will be permitted to participate.

Note:  The deadline for registering for the 2023 season is Tuesday April 11.
